Verifying and Associating Email Domains in Asana
Follow the steps to verify your domain in Asana and assign super admin access using DNS verification.
Before super admin permissions can be assigned in your Asana organization, your company’s email domain must first be verified. This process ensures that only authorized individuals can manage users and security settings at the organization level.
Step 1: Add the First Super Admin
To initiate domain verification, start by adding your first Super Admin:
-
Navigate to the Admin Console.
-
Go to the Security tab.
-
Under Admin Access, click “Add a Super Admin.”
This will begin the verification process.
Step 2: Complete the Super Admin Verification Process
After submitting your request to become a super admin, Asana will send an email with instructions to verify your organization’s domain via DNS.
Here’s what to do:
-
Open the verification email from Asana. It will contain a DNS TXT record.
-
Log in to your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Google Domains).
-
Add the DNS TXT record to the domain specified in the instructions.
-
Wait up to 48 hours for DNS propagation (though changes can be visible sooner).
-
Return to the link in the verification email and go back to the Admin Console.
-
Reopen the Admin Access section and click “Check Verification.”
Once verified, the user who initiated the process will be promoted to Super Admin.
Step 3: Add Additional Super Admins
After the domain is verified and your first Super Admin is active, they can add more Super Admins:
-
Go to the Admin Console > Security > Admin Access section.
-
Click “Add a Super Admin.”
-
Enter the email address of each user you'd like to promote.
Each new Super Admin must be a current member of your Asana organization.
